We think it is really important to involve children, young people and their parents and carers in developing our services. Your involvement makes sure that we are constantly improving to meet the needs of those who are using our services.
Friends and Family Test and Service Experience
There are various ways that you can contribute to improving our services, the first is to give us feedback via our having your say surveys. These include our Friends and Family Test (FFT) cards. These can be found in reception areas at our clinics and may also be given out by professionals that you see during your care. You can also fill these survey's out online here.
Your feedback comes to our service experience team and is used to celebrate things we are doing right and make changes where we need to improve. Each team will share the feedback in team meetings and produce a poster to display in the clinic. The poster will show the FFT score, response numbers and some comments from our young people and their parent/carers. The team will use this feedback to decide on some actions to improve, which will also be displayed on the poster.
Young People's Council and Involvement
You can also become involved by joining our young person's council. This is a group of young people between the ages of 13-21 who have current or previous experience of HPFT's services. The council meets once a month in the evening between 5:30-7:30pm. This is a space for you to give feedback on your experience of the services and be involved in project work to help us improve. Additionally the council occasionally has visitors from other mental health organisations, students from the University of Hertfordshire and other HPFT staff. They come along to answer your questions or ask you for your feedback on particular projects that involve other young people like you.
Finally we have other involvement opportunities such as being part of interview panels, being involved in project work, giving your personal story to our board of directors and more.
