Emergency Support
A specialist CAMHS crisis clinician is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide advice to families and professionals about children/young people in a mental health crisis and/or to arrange an assessment if required.
If you, a friend or a family member are experiencing a mental health crisis, call: 0800 6444 101 in the first instance (Due to a telephone fault, our 0800 number for our SPA line is currently not working. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need some mental health support, please call 111 and select option 2. We apologise for any inconvenience). Experienced mental health professionals will:
- Help to put worries and anxieties in perspective
- Signpost to local services and make referrals if needed
- Provide information on diagnoses, mental health issues and medication
- Support those in crisis with a plan to ensure they get the right help.
If you have a physical health emergency call 999 and ask for an ambulance or go to A&E.
During normal office hours, service users and carers under the support of Hertfordshire Partnership University Foundation NHS Trust’s services should call their care co-ordinator at their local mental health team.
If it is not an emergency but you need help and support please call our now 24 hour Single Point of Access (SPA) on 0800 6444 101 to speak to someone.
Experienced mental health professionals and support staff will:
- Help to put worries and anxieties in perspective
- Signpost to local services and make referrals if needed
- Provide information on diagnoses, mental health issues and medication
- Support those in crisis with a plan to ensure they get the right help.
Additionally young people have told us that Kooth provides great support for free between the hours of 12:00pm-10:00pm (Monday- Friday) and 6:00pm-10:00pm (Saturday and Sunday).
If it is not an emergency but you need help and support Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-5pm, please call your care co-ordinator or clinic/team on the number they gave you.
If it is outside of the above hours, you can call our now 24 hours Single Point of Access (SPA) number on 0800 6444 101.
